I got an incubator from a local college for my eggs. Turns out it only goes up to 62 and that's all it was originally designed to go up to so it's working fine. You can't hatch chicks at that temperature can you? Any suggestions for modifying it? I thought about wrapping it in foil so it retains more heat. ???

Oh no, Dear! The incy should be 99 to 100 degress. What kind of incubator is this? I don't know of any eggs that would hatch at such a low temp. Does it have a light bulb in it? Perhaps you could put a stronger wattage in it?

No light bulb unfortunately and I'm borrowing it so I can't change it in any permanent way. Guess I'll just send it back after trying to insulate it if that doesn't up the temp. It's too bad because I have eggs ready to be incubated

Is it a reptile incubator?

Can you post some pics and really specific details? Did it come with any paperwork, brand, etc?

Darn, sounds like it's not the one for the job. Even a foot of insulation isn't going to get the temp high enough.
