incubator placement

I have a Hovabator, and I'm wondering where in the house to put it. We don't have central air. The downstairs is more stable, temperature-wise, but it's also draftier, and it's more trafficked. The upstairs can get pretty hot in the day, and I'm wondering if I would have to run over to the incubator every few minutes to adjust the temperature. It has a wafer thermostat, but I'm not sure how they work.

I'd suggest wherever the temps are most stable. Maybe in a closet???

I kept mine in the office as we do not have central air either. Just a swamp cooler. The room kept it a little on the warm side especially if I closed the door. The eggs hatched out on day 19 but all were fine.
Given the choice I would go with the draftier more trafficked and put road blocks around it. Check it for the first day and monitor it. If you are having to babysit it too much, move it upstairs and start over with the monitoring until you find the right spot.

It would get enough air in a closet as long as it was not all packed around with "closet stuff" lol. DON'T put it upstairs where it gets hot. Kiss of death! Good luck, and make sure it is someplace where you can easily check inside it with a flashlight to see the temp and humidity readings. (not to high, not too low, but out of reach of little ones if you have those in the house too!) Keep the red plastic plugs out. I never use them.
