Alright, I'm getting an LG forced air from Sam this weekend. Our tax returns have been filed, and I want to buy another one to use as an incubator, and use the used one as a hatcher. I'm hoping to go all out and buy another LG or a Hovabator with turners and forced air and all the hooplah. Anyways, when you buy one of these things with the turner, do they come with chicken egg cups? Can you purchase quail egg cups? Where would you get them? Anything else that I need to know before I purchase the new incubator?

you can buy quail egg racks separately for both brands that im aware of. Hovabators work much better than LGs from what I've been told. I've only ever used LGs and im not a big fan of them lol! Others really love them. They come with chicken turners if you buy the turner with them, i forget how many eggs per turner machine.

Try a feed supply store, I picked up a pack of 6 racks for 8.27 or something like that... Of course I have an LG the racks were gqf but they fit in the turner anyways ( no arm length issues)

True, and if I buy racks locally, I should be able to return them if they don't fit for whatever reason.

Most times when you buy the hovabator turner, it comes with chicken and quail racks. It should anyway. Do some searching online to see what you can find. I don't remember where I got mine from, so I can't help you there. Also, the hovabator turner fits just fine into the LG bator, but the LG won't fit the hova.
If I remember correctly, the turner with both chicken and quail racks was about $55.

The one auction on ebay that I was watching (the seller has a bunch of new ones) has a "universal cup". From what I've seen from other people, I could either pad these cups with cotton or tissue, or just purchase the quail cups. I think I might try padding at first, just to save money in the beginning and because I will probably only be hatching small batches out until I can actually manage to pull it off.

Another thing, when you use these rack things, if you were to put chicken eggs and quail eggs in, can you make like one rack of quail eggs and attach the other racks as the universal or chicken cups?

The only quail eggs that won't fit into the chicken egg cups are the button quail. All other types will fit. As for the buttons, you could put some cotton or paper towel in the bottom of the cup to hold the eggs. As long as you have a fan in the incubator, you could have different sized eggs in the bator. The plus to the quail turners is that they hold more:120 quail as opposed to 42 chicken.

The racks for the LG and hovabator turners will not interchange, but if you had say LG turner and LG chicken/quail racks, you could have it with 3 quail racks and 3 chicken racks, or whatever you want.
