Incubator Temp. Fluctuating

I'm using a Little Giant Still-Air Incubator and housing it in my bathroom. The temps. have been fine with humidity levels sitting at 40-60% and temp. right around 99-100. I have chicks in the process of piping right now and for some reason the heater isn't producing as much heat as it has been. My incubator reads 101 but the thermometer I have in the incubator says the temp is just sitting at 90. I want to limit how much I open the incubator so I quickly touched the heater and it's barely warm but I can hear the sound of the heater working. I felt the eggs too and they are barely warm as well. I put a towel over the incubator in hopes to hold in some heat. What can I do to fix the heater?

I have had trouble with my LG still air. It went for a week not getting over 95 then suddenly spiked to 109 and killed a bunch of my eggs. If I had to open it for anything it would take forever for the temp to get back to 101-102. It is going back to the store tomorrow!

In the meantime, what do you have the temp setting at? Which LG is it? Does it have a dial or a digital controller?

BTW, for a still air your temp should be ~101.5

You can adjust the (placement of) sensor that hangs down in the bator and see if you can't get it to level out, it may have gotten jarred when you went into lockdown, or adjust the controls on the LG so that the temp rises on the independant thermometer. LGs are nnotorious for the sdisplay being off and the hygrometer being worthless.

Well, I believe everything is okay now. I've got two chicks hatched out of ten. I have at least 3-4 more attempting to get out of their shell right now. I adjusted the temp to 101.5 and the thermometer at the bottom of the incubator reads 99.5. My LG is a digital controlled incubator.

Okay, in the future just adjust it little bits at a time until your thermometer on the bottom reads right. I have to keep mine set at 103 for the real temp to be 101-102.

Almost everyone I know that uses the digital LGs have to have it adjusted 3F or more than the display says for it to be right in the bator, and most can't even go ny the hygrometer cause it will read 40-50% whether there's water in it or not. Sad that they make such a poor quality product when you're talking about lives here.
