Incubator temp for hatching question

I’ve been fussing around with the temperature of my hatching incubator. The thermostat will say 37,7C (what they recommend here in C as ideal temperature) or 99,86F. But the thermometers i put up in there will change according to where i put them. They’re all between 100F and 104F. So I guess i should put the thermostat just a little lower? What range is acceptable?
I have 1,5 week left to get it stable. :jumpy

Sounds like you have some hot spots - is this an incubator without a fan? I ask because usually you don't hot spots in a forced air incubator (one with a fan). If it doesn't have a fan, you want the temperature to be 101.5 F/38.6 C measured at the top of the eggs.

It has a fan.

Looks like it's homemade? I actually had that problem with one of my old homemade ones. Either the fan might not be big enough for all the space, or your heat source, which looks to be a light-bulb, might be positioned such that it's heating up one side unevenly. I was able to fix mine by moving the light-bulb to a more central location.

Yes, it's home-made. The weird thing is that I had it on for two days and it staid exactly spot-on on temperature. Then I added the water bowls to the bottom and now one side temps warmer than the other side. i’ve got one light bulb on each side, evenly positioned, the fan in the middle. I's the biggest model of fan I could find and they use it here specifically for incubators.
Do you think that adding the water bowls could have anything to do with the temp being off? What temperature range is acceptable in hatching?

If unsure, always best to go with a lower temperature...... it will delay the hatch date, if any, and will assure you will not cook your eggs like if you went with a higher setting instead!

Ok, i’ll do that. I guess the delay won’t be much anyway since they stay in my other incubator untill lockdown and I only tranfer them to this one then?

So, I removed the cavities from the incubator and now it is much more evenly warmed. Good news, but it’s a shame I put the work in to make them. The thermometers all show between 37 and 38.3 C. I think that is acceptable?

now I just have to find out how to make a little floor to put the water bowls underneath.
