Incubator temperature spike

Help please! I'm attempting to hatch duck eggs (first timer), but I had a temp spike in my incubator for about 15 mins before I discovered it. It hit about 45c (113f) and I'm worried I've killed the embryos. Has this happened to anyone? I removed the eggs and cooled them down, then candled them but they're not moving.. I hope i didn't kill them!? I feel so bad

This happened last night. I candled them again this morning (10 hours after the spike) and there's still no movement. The eggs have blood veins still though.

I don't think anybody could give you a definite answer if they are dead or alive. At what day are they? Maybe wait for a few more days and post a picture of candled egg?

If the temperature of the incubator went that high for only about 15 minutes, the egg temperature didn't. The volume of the egg is much more dense than the air and takes much longer to raise it's temperature. That's why mother hens can get up to eat and things without the egg getting too cold, as well. I'm pretty certain it had very little, if any, effect on your eggs. Good luck. I had the same problem with some quail eggs but, mine stayed that high for about 3 hours. I ended up with about a 20% hatch, still.. Not complete loss but, not a good hatch.
