I want to hatch chicken eggs. it says 99 degrees. I can't find a thermostat that will stay at 99 degrees. It will not go lower than 97 degrees if i make sure it doesn't go over 100 degrees. Is a 2 or 3 degree variance OK?

Yes that is fine. I wouldnt let it go higher than 100.5 and it's fine to let it drop a few degrees. The more acurate the better but not the end of the world. Some people use the hot water heater thermostats and those vary a lot but they still hatch them out. I use a C* that has a .5 degree variance that I buy off ebay. They take a few weeks to get here from china but they work great! They run about $24 shipping and all. Here is the page. http://www.ebay.com/itm/320809698577?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
