Incubator turned off :(

When I first started incubating I had a lot of trouble with the guineas. They were not quite as easy as chickens and a bit more temperamental when it comes to humidity. I know these eggs were a bit old and weathered but I would have expected them to quit sooner if that was the only factor. I have some more in the other incubator that are due on the 30th and I candled them today. I had several infertiles but I think those must be from the hen that just started laying again after raising a keet (she had four but only one survived their ventures into the corn fields). I am about to collect another batch and set them and I think I will move the incubator back into the closet as that is where I kept it last year and I had very good hatches.

Were the eggs from your own birds or shipped?

I collected them from my birds. So at least they never cost anything, LOL
I guess what contributed to the disappointing part is that I also had a weasel clean up 3 of my 5 adult guinea hens.
I am collecting from the last 2 hens and hoping to do another batch of eggs before fall.

As of this morning, three of the four chicks are tapping away, right on time :celebrate We'll see how the guineas do next week.
That is good! My luck with our guinea eggs wasn't very successful when my incubator shut off. Hope all the rest hatch for you! Good luck!
