My incubator became unplugged for several hours (the eggs were cold). I am continuing to incubate the eggs but am wondering if you can tell if they are still alive. I had eggs at 14 days , 9 days and 3 daysl. Will the veins disappear? What should I be looking for when I candle?

Sorry to hear about the bator troubles.. The 9 day olds, you can candle them in a day or so... If you see veining still, GREAT! Otherwise you will see a bloodring.. The bloodring in the egg says it quit growing and bacteria is building up.. As for the 3 days olds, I would wait until day 7 before you candle them... Same as above as far as what you see... Please please please!! I cannot stress this enough.. IF you see one that you aren't quite sure about, put it back in the bator for a few more days and then candle again.. I had one that looked like it had a bloodring but I wasn't sure as it was not as pronounced as others I have seen and I put it back! I am so glad I did because I would have killed a growing chick! When in doubt, wait it out! Hoping the best for you..
