Incubator update!

Excitement causes me to candle too often!! As far as I know it’s never caused problems. If you can resist though, try to limit it to day 7,14 & 18. It can be tricky to see much before day 7 with dark eggs. I also weigh my eggs (in the incubator racks, not individually) when I candle to check weight loss/humidity are on target. And of course do post some candling pics if you’re unsure of fertility/development. Best of luck

Not sure how to follow a post without making a reply, sorry!

I just want to follow along! And learn all I can!
I'm dying to cross a silkie roo to my girls! Just have to get the hubby to say yes to the idea of a roo and incubator or just sneak them in ;)

Not much to update yet on my incubation- so far so good. We are only on Day 3 and I am nervous as an old wet hen about this time around. I keep hearing my Grandpa, " Patience is the key here".:fl

I did get a backup plan this time around too. If my eggs turn out to be not fertile again. My dad has chickens as well and I will get some eggs from him. Always good to have a backup plan, right?:fl

Incubator update: Day 7 Candled eggs could tell for sure 4 of the 6 eggs are fertile and are growing. Not sure on the other 2. So I left them in until Day 14. Is that the right thing to do? Both are the same breed and are white eggs from Brown Leghorn.:thumbsup
