Hello, I joined a while back and really didn't go anywhere with being on the forum.
Just came back and ready to get started with chickens.
I've got a few questions and I'll also try to read back posts too.
If anyone can post links to back posts they remember and can find please feel free to do so.

1) Is anyone having any success with those styrafoam incubators?

2) Is anyone having any success with incubating shipped eggs?

I ordered some from a breeder who told me he'd be shipping them priority and after the fact without
calling me to ask ended up shipping them parcel post. None were broken even thought it took 7 days to get to me.
However it is day 9 and after candling not 1 of 17 have any chicks in them.
I'd sure love to hear folks experiences with incubating shipped eggs.
Thank you for any advice you can give and any experience you can share.

Hi and welcome to BYC im sorry to hear about your eggs. Im wondering how long he has had them before shipping them to you! I would contact him regarding the delay on shipping as this could be the reason you have no babies. Sadly theres nothing you can do about infertile eggs its the chance we take... Theres lots of good breeders out there so dont let one bad experiance put you off. I got my first shipped eggs 5 weeks ago, i got 10 marans and 8 hatched which is pretty good for shipped eggs. Ive just set 12 serama eggs 2 days ago i won off ebay so ive got my fingers crossed for another good hatch..please keep in touch we are all here to help and the majoraty of us are all learners too..:). Tracy....

Thank you for posting a response. I am a little disheartened but will try again.
The granddaughters were really looking forward to seeing baby chicks hatch.
Looking forward to other responses too.
I wonder how good these little giant styrofoam incubators are?

They should have never been shipped Parcel Post, Shame on the breeder!
I have had different success on the Hova-Bator 2362N with automatic Turner that I have. With my own eggs 50% up to 100% and with Shipped eggs from 0% on up to 90% just depends. Good luck with your next Hatch!

I've used the little giant still air incubator for quite a few years now...I usually have a 75% or so hatch rate. I am getting ready to start a batch at school with one of my classes...and I am using an egg turner for the first time, so it will be interesting to see how that works out. Everyone has their own opinions about different incubators...I guess the important thing is to find one that works well for you in your situation and go for it!

Good luck!

The Little Giant one I have is a still air and I bought the eggs turner right off.
They didn't have the fan you can buy and attach so I have it on order.
Just trying to cover all my basis for this season. Hoping to get a better / upgrade for next season.
