Incubators Anonymous

Yes. It's an Incu-turner that came with the HovaBator. I'll try labeling them, that's a good idea. :)
I've the same incubator & turner. I noticed the same thing (all on one side) when I candled last night. This is my first hatch in this Incubator & turner, I've already decided I'm getting the other turner that'll hold 120 quail eggs.

Hmm...well, I'm glad it isn't just me. This incubator had thousands of reviews that were positive, so, I have to think that incubating them on their sides must be fairly successful. It looks like you can buy a separate turner that would fit into it, but, it's not dirt cheap or anything and I'd hate to have to put any more money into this little operation: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004XNMGXE/?tag=backy-20

When are your eggs due to hatch?

Lockdown is Saturday I think. It depends on the hatch out on if I order the other turner, unless I just get it because I can set more eggs. We'll see. When's your hatch due?

I locked down my turkey eggs yesterday but looking at the eggs, I'm wondering if I wrote the wrong date on them lol. I think I may possibly still have another week!
If they aren't internally pipped you can put them back in the incubator. Fortunately not turning them for the last week will not hurt them. Good luck.

These chicks are 2+ wks old. I brought the serama mama & her 2 chicks into the basement for a while.

I had a hen abandon her new chicks this evening at roost time. Guess she thought they'd be fine on the ground by themselves, I mean they are 2 days old, that should be old enough to care for oneself at 20° F, right?! Crappy hen is gonna end up in the freezer when she puts some weight back on. The other mama on the ground has 10, but she won't take these new ones. I don't blame her!

That's strange. Is she a 1st time mama? Sometimes it takes a hen a few days to learn how to care for her chicks. You could try putting the hen in your storage tub / brooder & then place the chicks under her. (It would at least save you the electricity costs.) I even had a newbie hen "peck" at her chicks when they came out from under her. I basically kept the lighting low for a while and kept the brooder within hearing range. It seemed that she was fine with them under her but attacked as soon as she saw them. The mama eventually started "talking" to her chicks after a few days and then bonded. It was a rough start but she caught on. (I did give the chicks some soaked feed a few times to get them through the 1st 2-3 days)
