I succumbed to bad habits and set 194 chicken eggs tonight.

I was wondering why you set eggs yesterday, then it dawned on me..DUH.....

I set eggs like crazy, I have every slot and hole filled in all 3- 1202's. I have a few eggs left over, I may have to fire up a foamie or two.....

That's incredible Ralph! I've almost gotten my 1 1202 full. Looks like I'm going to need another one lol

What's even worse, is I have eggs left over, and am wracking my brain with what to do with them dawned on me. I have 2 broodies I have been trying to break in the coop. I am just going to give them the left overs, so I will have 3-1202's full and 2 broodies full!

I am a genius! Who says I hatch too many eggs?

You know you can make those "foamies" have a reliable temperature control by replacing their temp controllers like you did with the 1202.

I know, and I thought about it. But I like using the turners to put eggs on when waiting to be hatched. I am thinking of just getting rid of them.

Or keeping them for overflow when I get the new hatchery build.

Now you have me thinking..

In the new hatchery I could make a special "shelf" or enclosed shelf for them. I could have it heated to 80ish and have the humidity higher in the "drawer or enclosed shelf" and use them as hatchers for overflow. my one hatcher gets so full now. Or if I have a small order someone wants on a certain date use it for that..

Thanks R2ELk, I think I will change the thermostats out this spring/summer...

Hi Guys! I found you! Were you hiding from me?

I had no idea that you've been over here discussing incubators and hatching for a whole year.

Look what I found on CL last night, and then I spent the whole night tossing and turning trying to figure out if I could convert it into a cabinet incubator and hatcher.

And since I know that CL link will be no good after a while, here is a photo of the item for people who might see this later on:

They want $50 for it!

There is no way I can take on another project right now. I even madly considered just buying it and hoarding it in my basement for "someday". But there is no room left since I have too many other half started projects stuffed in every corner down there.

Well, so that's how I found you all over here, because I searched diy cabinet incubators for ideas and found this thread. This is great! Now I have somewhere to talk about my chicken hatching without cluttering up the turkey talk thread.

Welcome @finnie! We would never hide from a fellow hatch-a-holic!

I would totally buy that and hoard it,though hubby might have something to say about that lol. Can you imagine how many eggs you could put in there and chicks that would hatch out!

Hey Finnie!..

I would have that hid away in a corner somewhere around here so fast! That would make the perfect hatcher, I need more hatching space. I need more incubating space. and that has 100 possible uses...
