Incubators Anonymous

I use a cabinet incubator with no turners for a Hatcher. I have another one with turners that I incubate in, as well as several styrofoam bators and a reptipro. I am a hatchamaniac, and I love it!

Ok, you just gave me a brilliant idea. I have a little giant styro. What if I got another one, got the temp and humidity right, and then transferred my "lockdown" eggs into that one. Then I can fit more eggs into the other one. I can't believe I didn't think of that before.

My grandpa has a 300 egg incubator but that's a little overkill. (Plus if I bring that thing home... it's all over for me.) More space equals more eggs.

I know what you mean! I could not figure out how staggered hatches worked and then ..... ding..ding...ding... I have a wooden box I use for my hatcher. Just make sure you schedule your hatches so that you don't have to open it to add more eggs while the others are hatching!

Me and my husband are into those shows on TV. Ghost hunters, Paranormal Investigators... I got a smiley face orb once in a pic of my daughter on her very first pony. That was cool. (It's literally a smiley face in an orb.)

Some of that stuff blows me away! (And then some of it is totally bogus!)

Very true, some of is fake. You can tell. Every since I was little when our housE burned My Sis and I both are able to tell when a spirit is around. We were told cuz we were so young and in the house when it caught a fire. Trust me I would rather not know.

Yikes! That's scary. Glad you got out okay!

At the risk of sounding completely ignorant- What do you use for a hatcher?

Ya see, I'm old school. My grand-daddy taught me one way, and I'm learning all these other ways people hatch.

I have 2 hovabators, one with just the small windows (plus fan/turner) for incubating, and a picture window (with fan) for hatching. that way i can crank up humidity and watch what's going on. and the other 'bator can keep chugging and turning, as long as there's eggs in there. just gotta keep track of when eggs are set and when lockdown is for the diff eggs. I write on each one with pencil so i know who's what's where etc. (date laid if they're mine & weight, date set, weight at setting - yes i write VERY small)

Don't blow off the 300 egg incubator, you will need it come spring! I am planning to build another one.

Yes! I just had the ding ding ding moment! (Or the "Pah! Moment" as we call it in these parts.)

Now to get the scheduling part down. I can handle this... I have 3 kids. Scheduling is in my blood. LOL.

I want to wean these 5-6 week olds off the heat what should i do? I could only give them heat at night and none in the day. (next week upper 60's and nights near freezing or 40's) Should I get a timer and have it come on for a hour and then off a hour at night? That way they can learn to get warm.

If I get any more eggs, I'm going to have to develop a system! Right now I'm putting the start date into the calendar on my phone. So far that's keeping me pretty organized.

I stop during the day and leave it on at night. But we're heading into winter now... I'm going to have to do something different. I hope others provide some advice.

Thank God we climb out of the bathroom window.
