Yes. I figure I'll just keep what doesn't sell, pick what I wanna switch some of my not as pretty hens out with, then sell the rest later in the year. I may set ONE more hatch after the one that is in. lol I have a grow out pen, but it isn't very big. And I have a turkey pen and I'm getting rid of my turkeys, & plan to use that for my Polish that I'm going to start breeding next year. Maybe I'll keep y Polish in the grow out pen through winter, then use the turkey pen to grow pullets. Its HUGE!!! Lol I just don't know what I'll do with the cockerels! They r EE's, so can't tell til about 8-10 weeks on sex. I def don't wanna kill them all. What do people do with them?![]()
I don't know when they will be ready to go but I hope to take Poco Pollo's clinic next month but the date for the clinic hasn't been set yet. If you end up just giving them away, maybe I can find a way to pay for them to be sent here and I can caponize them. Depending on when you are ready to let them go, I might even be able to talk my husband into coming to get them. LOL
Easy going chicks, but our roo was bi-polar!!! If you turned your back, he would attack, but if you sat down he would jump in your lap to be petted. Our hen is still an attention hog. She will peck your ankles to be picked up.

Ho that is so funny and I am learning that is just the way all of them are I guess Bi-Polar yes no argument there and you described just how they are my roo I have no problem picking him up and right after I put him down and turn something hits my legs and then he runs off like it is some kind of game and later when I am sitting down he will come over and see what I am doing silly little boy ...........
Yester day I went out and talked to the Postman and I had the MH chicks jumping on my shoulders and yes I was standing up his only remark was glad they are not pigeons![]()

The really couriers thing about these MH chicks or chickens is how easy it is to keep them in the yard where others like my EE's even the chicks will do everything including flying over the fence to get out the MH just seem content to be fenced in and be under foot when ever they can and don't leave any of the doors open or they are just right in there on the rug enjoying life ......![]()
Chick alert how funny but that is how they are alright![]()
I keep telling myself I will not set more eggs!!! I have 30 babies in the brooder probably now, only 7 left in te grow out pen, and 41 eggs left in the bator on day 11. Chick selling is slowing down dramatically here. Everyone wants the big girls now. But, I don't really WANT to stop. What time of year will be good to start hatching again? Like March? But that's SEVEN MONTHS!!! What will I do with no babies for THAT long? And I'll have SOO many eggs!!!![]()
When I was a kid, I can remember seeing "Capon" in the grocery store but didn't know what they were. I though they were another type of fowl, like chicken, duck, goose or game hens. I haven't noticed any Capons in the grocery stores for ever! Doesn't mean they aren't there, I just don't notice. I was surfing here on BYC and found this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/675898/graphic-pics-of-my-day-learning-to-caponize
I started to read and since I now have chickens and I am using an incubator which means lots more chicks than my 7 unbroody hens would give me, I thought I'd like to caponize some of my cockerels and have them be my brooders. I figured that I am going to have lots of cockerels. I have also gotten some silkie chicks now, 10 of them I don't know the sex of but I am hoping they will sit eggs and be brooders too. That link will give you information on the caponizing clinics. It doesn't sound hard, just scary. LOL
