Incubators Anonymous

Its according to how its built, but venting can be as simple as drilling some holes in few locations. I like to "Play" but for $150 I would have to really know I could make it work without having to spend much more. I bought a used Dickeys cabinet incubator for $50----had to spend less than $100 to get the turner working----Now I got a good working Cabinet-----digital Control for under $150. I also bought a GQF cabinet for $250---turner did not work but I had it working in a few minutes after I got home without having to buy anything-----bought another home-made cabinet with turners(4 of the styrofoam incubator type turners) working for $40-----SO what I am saying is----LOOK around before you buy----you Might get Lucky!!
what did you do with the turner to make it just work...im curious...just for future reference if my gqf turner goes down....what to test for and such...please do let me know...

LOL.... you have it BAD! You could have waited!

I know! I have been wanting some black blue and splash copper marans for over two years now. When you said you had blue and black coppers. I couldn't help myself! They where very well packed! I couldn't see any detatched air cells. If worse comes to worse I will go tomorrow and buy me another bator.I read somewhere to wait 36 hours before setting. I don't know if thats right. Thank you again!

The $250 GQF I bought had been setting up---rat nest in the top ----I did a couple checks and determined the turner motor was not working. I could see the inner part of the motor looked like it needed cleaning so I took it off---took the motor apart, (It did need cleaning) cleaned, greased and put it back together. Tested it and it worked like new-----put it back in and all worked good.

Just for future info--Usually the timer motor is what goes bad and it can be replaced(all can be replaced if needed). You got the turner motor, a couple micro switches and the timer-----If yours quits---a couple test will let you know where the problem is.

How long have the 4 and a half dozen been in bator? Just wondering when you set shipped eggs in your bator. How long do you leave them in the cartons before you put them in the auto turner?! I am praying for a good hatch! They are in the bator and in 21 short/LONG days we will know!

You can call me Amy. Single/homeschooling mom of a gorgeous 7 year old son. I haven't been able to type right since I got the new laptop. I really can spell-just not type, apparently, so sorry for the typos ahead of time.
