yeah staggered hatches... but what if you have eggs hatching all the time, what would you keep the humidity at?
I'm thinking I want to keep weekly hatches going to get as many chicks as i can, since the hatch rate seems so crappy with my dorkings... seems like i'm not alone there though, it seems to be an issue with the breed right now. but I have a plan down the road, once i get some other dorkings from different lines. mean time, i need girls to lay eggs.
I just fill all the water trays in my hatchers all the time and don't worry about what the number is I really seem to get the best hatches when they are not staggered, though.
I use the dry hatch method until the first ones are due to hatch. I'll increase it to 75%. Then, I'll drop the humidty back down to 50%. Also I use staggering humdidty. Say on Mon-Friday I'll run humidity at 50-60% then bump it upto 80% only for a few days. I do this when I have geese eggs/duck eggs with chicken.
I have only had to bad hatch rates.
One was one shipped eggs and another was from a week long winter storm.
