I think it'd be easier to just let it go now vs try and extra care with lots of extra time then more extra care and ending in a loss anyway. No eyes and cross beak isn't a good start. Sorry about the bad chick. Glad the others are doing well even if late.

Ok very sad chick update. Everyone's hatching now but I have one with no eyes and a beak that the top goes one was while the bottom goes the other. Must have been a issue with the humidity, everyone else is doing great though! I'm not sure what do do with the little black chick he's still peeping and walking a bit. I don't have the heart to kill him.

As painful as it is for you, I think the most human thing to do is to kill that poor chick. It is sad, but the poor thing will probably die a slow death otherwise. It is our responsibility to do the right thing when we hatch chicks. Kern

Why would a chick just fall over dead? I was just outside by the brooder pen. It just has a hen and the chicks she hatched out 8 days ago. She sounded a little freaked when I turned around their was a chick completely lifeless. She hovered around it and tried to get it up but it was gone. I don't know if she stepped on it just right and broke it's neck or what happened.

You might need to give a general area you live in---then maybe someone close can loan you one??? This Board goes all over the World------where you live??

Give more of a thought about making one as they ban be expensive but you can have more fun with one you make and Styrofoam and a light bulb oh a temp indicator and boom you got an incubator ...
