I would guess about 80... your going to need more land or build high rises.

Wow that will really be chicken city! Trying to get ahead on build coops and pens here too, but came to the realization I'll never have enough coops. Oh well it won't hurt to try. And hey, get to feeling better, I'll be praying for you and everyone else here. Gotta get some sleep, God bless y'all.

I have ten acres. So far I have 20 coops or tractors, brooders, insulated chick room and a barn with 7 chicken pens. Still lots of room to expand. Plus if I sell the goats once they kid, I will have 6 or 7 more areas I can convert into runs. Then there is a lean to area I could close in, for 5-6 more pens. Just wish I felt better. It is sunny out for once. Just a chicken maniac I guess.:-D

well whaddayaknow!
had 1 lonely egg due 2 days ago, saw no drawdown, no movement, and it had that 'questionable' look to the blood vessels. something told me not to toss it...
just finished my last call of the week

My Brahma girls have started laying!! Well at least one of them had lol. I found a gorgeous little egg today in my second coop and caught her in the act of laying and crowing about it. Now I want to hatch more than ever. The eggs just need to get a little bit bigger or I will be making mini chickens lol. Spring can't come soon enough for me. I set myself the goal that I wouldn't set up the incubator until the end of January so that by the time they hatch out it will almost be the end of February and starting to warm up. Not sure if I am going to make it. There is nothing wrong with chickens living in the house is there? Now just to convince my husband hehe.

So happy for you!! It's so nice when the ones we think won't hatch prove us wrong. I wish it would happen more often lol. But then I would be over run with chickens hehe.

the only downside, it's a cockerel... a plus to knowing when they hatch i guess, but still. now boys outnumber girls. at least they're a mellow breed.

funniest thing, their poppa, aka 'the big guy' hardly ever acts agressive to anything. today funky (aka comic relief) thought he was gonna flog me (or attempt to at least LOL), did his little sideways step thing at me, and big guy laid into him and then some. chased him around the house and down into the horse pasture. LOL

usually funky's attempts end in me launching him skyward with my boot, chasing him, or throwing rocks at him. he's only alive for the comic relief, but the freezer seems to be calling his name. funny thing is, you bend over to pick up a rock, he looks at you cautiously. throw the rock in his direction he runs. everyone else runs up TO the rock to see if it's edible LOL. today i caught him broadside with some stale bread LOL. and no, i don't injure him, tho maybe if i did he'd stop flogging me.

Lol I had two like your funky. We named them Thing 1 and Thing 2. They were like little whirling dervishes with feathers. I kept them around because they made me laugh but when they ganged up and injured one of the hens I had to send them to camp Kenmore. Poor girl still hasn't gotten all of her feathers back yet. My resident boys are all big and no one really is mean I have a few younger ones but they are doing pretty well. My son and I have decided they can all stay until the ladies tell me they need to go. Although when I want to collect eggs I think I will be separating them so that I only get the boy I want in my babies hehe. Right now everyone runs together although they hate the snow with a vengeance.

I did have some stuff in the incubator until somebody unplugged the incubator for about 8-10 ++ hours so I had to through out all the eggs.

Oh, well. I didn't need or have room for more anyway! But it still makes me angry!

I'm trying to keep the incubator unplugged until I can pick and choose from my current breeders. I have a ton of bantam Orpingtons that need to hurry up and fill out and get grown so I can pick and choose, I already know there is a ton of boys in the group! Go figure, right?

It was cold yesterday! My hands had no feeling after a couple of hours of chasing chickens. I don't have any eggs to hatch... my girls have gone on strike. Maybe in a week or so I will put some in. Next Thursday is lockdown for the first batch of Marans. Maybe that will make room for more

I moved my only solid blue rock to the back with her man so I am collecting her eggs to hatch and see if I can get some solid black rocks.... that is the only color I don't have and she is the only rock that can give me solid blacks.

Are you feeling better?
