I felt like my wings were clipped..... I am FREE now!!!! I will probably set everything I want from this weeks collection since there is another trade day next month. I am not going to go crazy or anything..... I should probably set some EE too and some Olive Eggers..... I have another broody too....

When should I take the chicks away from the broody and let her get back to laying? Or just let them hang with the chicks till they are done. (when is that?)
Nowthat your incubator is almost full, do you feel better?!?!?

I took the chicks at hatch to brood so my hen could go back to work.

Quote: It is not full..... I am going to take 100 egg out today and add more. I still have room for 180 eggs..... I don't think I could handle a FULL incubator. I have had all three rows full, but not to hatch at one time. 2 row full is good. Looks like I get to hatch all those eggs I have up for auction.....

Well, one of my local sources fell through. :( Turned out they were a LOT further away than I had thought and I'm not driving 4 hours round trip to get eggs when I'm already driving 2 hours round in the other direction for the other two dozen. Oh well. That's still 3 dozen eggs going in the bator two weeks from now. So excited!

My kids and I built an incubator as a science project. We ran it for 3 days and it maintained a temp of 99.2 - 100.1, humidity of 54%. We found a local lady that has quail and she gave us a dozen eggs to give our bator a test run. 17 days and counting. It's kind of like waiting for Christmas, isn't it? If these hatch, I'm going to try some chickens. My ducks all sit and hatch their own so I don't need to bother with ducks.
