Incubators Anonymous

Donna,  the OE and Cuckoo marans are developing surprisingly well for shipped eggs. :fl  I'll know more in another 7 days.

I recycled the WL today; you were right, the rooster has not been able to do his job due to the injury. THe dogs enjoyed the eggs.

Does anyone know where I can advertise eating eggs for sale? THey are coming out my ears!!

U can put them on craigslist. Good to hear about the eggs.... i am setting a ton of cuckoos right now. I need to get hatching on that project.

1 to go. one of the unhatched eggs has pipped. guess he's just slow.  i've decided a few of the chicks are going to stay in the brooder and probably go to the sale next weekend.

ok barred rocks. bigger white on the head is a pullet?  or am i backwards?

i think i'll let her keep some pullets. anyone ever had a free range hen with babies in general population?  will she keep them away from the others?

Great pic, thanks for sharing!

Quote: THe cuckoo eggs you sent are HUGE--nice eggs. I just finished candling every egg trying to make room for the next batch. THeyare all growing, I pulled about 3 from shipped eggs and my eggs!

Guess its time to eat the eggs in storage.

Sorry to do this... AGAIN.... but here goes.

On day 7, candled eggs..... pitched the one that was porcelain and clear. the rest were veiny and some moving! On the evening of day 9 my hubby thinking he was doing a favor lifted the lid using the temperature control....(against my wishes I may add)... and when we got back from our night out.....maybe 6 hours, the temp was waaaaay too high. I vaguely remember over 104.

I cooled them well, slowly and down to appropriate temp.... nothing drastic....as of last night (night 10) we have 2 still moving and the rest have sorta become blob-ish..... my question is......

is it possible that they weren't moving when we candled last night or is it more likely that (gulp) they have been done in. These are the eggs that were given to me by a friend and not the ones I purchased so for that I'm grateful.... but sheeeeesh.

Anyone??

anything's possible. i'd say keep going and candle again just before lockdown. by then you should see nothing at all (too dark) which is good, or you'll see a lot of space where it shouldn't be.

This is a situation where you must have patience. Keep incubating and keep going. You do not know yet how much damage has been done. So keep hoping .. . ..keep on incubating. You must wait and see . . . .

well no chicks so far. I had to throw out half of my eggs that were to hatch last week. Waiting to see if my Mothers Day Eggs will hatch I am going to give them till Wed. if nothing happens then I will throw them out as well.

I got a great deal on some red and black sex link hatching eggs. So I will put them in my big bator tomorrow. I also found a lady that does alot of work for a hatchery and she is setting me up with birds to sell at our local Trade Days around our home and any of the others we might want to go to. So soon I will be selling Hatchery breed chickens. I can get any breed of chicken, duck, geese, turkey if anyone wants them, and Guineas that anyone wants as well. So If I do not have what the customer I can get it.
Looks like my husband is starting to realize what money can be made at our trade days and is not wanting to do this with me. LOL
