Donna if it is a nice line where every chick matters, then put in lock down with the others. and continue turning it when you can. It may quit at some point anyways. Or it may do fine.

Because I running batches often just a few days apart, I don't follow the lockdown rules. IMO eggs dry out too much when a chick takes too long to zip after the pip. This has been my observation.
That was my thinking, but I also don't want a deformed chick or worse it pass this trait down to its chicks.

I think I will leave it. Maybe it will quit on its own and the decision will not be mine

Donna,

It could also be simply that this egg was the freshest and possibly the others were layed early in the morning on a very warm day like in the 80 temps which is enough to get the embryos going.

I keep shallow trays lined with paper towel in the hatcher, and if an egg takes too long to pip/zip i'll squirt a bit of water on the paper directly under it. just enough to get the paper damp. i use a ketchup bottle type dispenser filled with water near the bators.

You are just full of good advice!
The difference between intelligence and wisdom, is the willingness to pass on what you have learned along the way.
what's the sense of learning something if you aren't willing to pass it along? knowledge not shared is wasted.
just my 2 cents...

and if I had not followed your advice, I would have had Guineas all over my incubator in the morning. 6-7 had pipped by the time I put them in the hatcher today day 24.

Almost didn't take the time to put them in lockdown.... good thing I decided to go ahead and do it!

BTW.... I think that SLW egg may have stopped. I still have it in the bator, but I didn't see it moving today when the other going into lockdown.
