always thought that intelligence was the ability to learn. wisdom was the knowledge you have obtained over the years.
knowledge obtained is just knowledge. book learning. intelligence. it's what you do with it that separates the wise from the smart.
a wise person shares what they have learned with others, in the hopes that someone will take that knowledge, learn from it, and maybe even pass it along when someone else might need it.

The difference between intelligence and wisdom, is the willingness to pass on what you have learned along the way.
what's the sense of learning something if you aren't willing to pass it along? knowledge not shared is wasted.
just my 2 cents...
there is one other thing to think about, an intelligent person knows when not to pass on info he has..

as it may do more harm than good

I couldn't resist, there was room for more eggs so I added another dozen FBCM eggs. I've sold most of the chicks I hatched, now I need some for me.

ANd this morning the LG hatched 8 out of 8 bourbon red turkeys! Even the one I marked with a ? pipped, and zipped and was the last to hatch!!

My Guineas are out! Most of them..... I think I will take them out tomorrow since the rest are not due for 2 more days. Now what to do with them..... put them with the chicks or not????

i would. i've been told guineas raised with chicks are better. don't know the exact reasons but mine were with the cochins before i sold them all off.

Sooooo true or false, that silkies are more difficult to hatch without a broody? Just a question from someone who had yet another 0% hatch today. uuuuugh.

No silkies in the batch we pitched today..... just asking because we set 5 eggs that were given to us to try. Little do they know that they gave eggs to a family who had horrible rates.

On the positive side, these eggs made it to lockdown and that's the best we've ever made it. And they were in great condition when we did the autopsy.... just failed during lockdown.

We've added a computer fan to the mix and have gone totally "dry" for days 1-18. Any other suggestions?

I'll also accept and be so happy for any PMs. I'm a bit sad today and feeling a bit like a failure.... thanks so much everyone!!! Jane

We have all had failed hatches. Sorry it's gotten you down.

Give yourself some time to reflect and you will feel better in a few days.

Do you also candle looking at the size of the air cell?? Having the "right' RH is only part of the equation to equal the correct size air cell at days 7, 14 and 18. Ventialtion, room humidity and AC also effect the rate eggs dry. I need to sand marans eggs to get the drying right.

If you have tried eggs from many sources including eggs fresh and not shipped I would look into keeeping a notebook and review procedures and day to day information. ALl the big hatcherries keep notes and check the temps and humidity many times a day.

Sorry I don't have any quick answers but someday you will hit upon the key and say, When didn't I do that sooner. You will get there.

EEEEEEEEEKKKKK!!! We just candled on day 16 for the hell of it because of our tragedy earlier today and we needed a positive something...... and we saw a foot. Yay!!! It was in an Ameraucana egg just kicking back being sweet..... and one of my English Orps almost caused an earthquake with a movement!!! If you'd all please bow your heads....(if you're up for it)

Dear God of all hatching chicken eggs....... can our wee little family of three please hatch out of this batch please??? We have done all that we can, turn with love and kind words, and sincerely ask all questions and follow guidelines as well as we possibly can. I have so much love

Sanding.... now that's when I'm taking a fine grit paper to the eggs to look to see that the air cell is large enough due to the color of the egg?? Our candler is pretty great.... hee hee.... DH is a nerdy electric guy.... but the marans are truly making me nuts. The others are a no brainer. I'm doing the RH from 1-18 around 30% at this point.... just dropped down and so I added a small moist piece of gauze. Watching... waiting.... needing a little bigger cells right now. Still hoping for goodness!
