well, hubby doesn't like 'bone in' and the dogs eat raw (bones n all) so the Sam's ones don't work either way...

and before anyone asks, you CAN feed raw chicken bones to a dog, they're 100% digestible. it's the cooked bones that can splinter and cause LOTS of problems. that being said i had a pointer that got all the chicken wing bones she could handle and lived to 15, but i thin that's the exception not the rule.

even funnier tho, the dogs don't equate fluffbutts to dinner. hope they never do, they socialize so well. 8) had to 'reprimand' my sultan roo today, sunny had to go in and give him a few prods with the nose when i was done, to prove my point. LOL

Wow and I thought I was bad because I was getting close to 50. Not sure my husband would like me to have over 100 birds lol. He likes the ones we have but over 100 might be pushing it.

I think 100 layers is insane!!! 50 would be good but we are going to have meat birds and sell chicks and eggs. Chicks are what will send it over the edge. We are going to replace the flock every year, year and half so I have to start my new layers now. Some birds like my Marans may keep some of them longer, we will see. I have plenty of land and an endless supply of pallets!

BTW one of my "suppliers" winters over 400 birds

Can you show me how you use your pallets? I have seen people post about using pallets for coops and other stuff, but I can't picture it. I have pallets, I just don't know what to do with them. pics would be great.

I get my pallets from a printing company. They are not standard sizes so that is why I get them by the truck loads. My visuals my not help but I will try. We get a solid pallet no gapes in the wood. That is the base. We also get something they call pallet tops, kinda look likes a window. We use those like framing in a wall and fill in the gaps with other pallet top we break apart (just staples so very easy to pull apart). I have seen people use reg pallets as a base walls and tops then just cut away what you don't need and fill in the gaps. Her are some pis of the coop for the millies it is ALL made from stuff we get from the printing company except the wire and hardware.

We even make doors with the pallet tops

I make my brooders with them and chicken hospital.

This is now my hospital but might give you an idea what the tops look like, just look past the chicks....

If you want more I will get pics tomorrow of the pallets and the top and of my big coop boxes for the big birds. We are going to use these for the breeding pens. We also get long pallets from a sheet metal shop, not many but it gets them out of their way and give me some real 2 x 4's and 4 x 4's and filler wood too.

I need to pay for the membership to get more pic space, i just hate finding links with the pics gone!
