Incubators Anonymous

I'm new to this (my first hatch) but I boiled my water for a few minutes to sanitize it in the container before I put it in the bator. I would think that should help keep it clean?

I would think that is over kill. Just a couple of drop of bleach or oxine should do it. BUT This is the first I have heard of the issue. I don't even change the water, just keep refilling it.

Nashville also has pretty high chlorine in the water so you could possibly never have an issue.

I can vouch for the high chlorine content in Nashville water. I have a friend that lives there, and when I visit I bring my own water to use when brushing my teeth, I can't bring myself to use that bleach water. I am used to Spring water and that chemical water is blech!

I have used it my WHOLE life UNTIL last summer.... ALGAE in the water NASTY was not the word for it. No filter could remove it either. Bottled water for me!

Ewwww weird! I use distilled water myself, that way it is handy to the incubator when needed.
