I'm new to this (my first hatch) but I boiled my water for a few minutes to sanitize it in the container before I put it in the bator. I would think that should help keep it clean?

I would think that is over kill. Just a couple of drop of bleach or oxine should do it. BUT This is the first I have heard of the issue. I don't even change the water, just keep refilling it.I'm new to this (my first hatch) but I boiled my water for a few minutes to sanitize it in the container before I put it in the bator. Nashville also has pretty high chlorine in the water so you could possibly never have an issue.I would think that is over kill. Just a couple of drop of bleach or oxine should do it. BUT This is the first I have heard of the issue. I don't even change the water, just keep refilling it.

Can you just smell it?
Im used to nasty alabama water i can taste the chlorine in it up by you.Can you just smell it?
I can vouch for the high chlorine content in Nashville water. I have a friend that lives there, and when I visit I bring my own water to use when brushing my teeth, I can't bring myself to use that bleach water. I am used to Spring water and that chemical water is blech!
