The cuckoo cross would produce males with head spots.... sometimes it can be tiny, but ANY spot and it is a roo.

it (or should I say He) hatched about 10 mins after i got home from work. Looks like he has a head spot but more interesting is that he looks like a blue??
Definitely a blue gray color.. Dad has no blue that's apparent.. Mom is just an ordinary cuckoo marans from a hatchery... Hmm...

well i have 26 more due next week... it never occurred to me that they would all look like marans babies even though the moms are about 6 different
breeds LOL!!! :)..

Well I ended up not getting to the store with the paint pens, so I just used a soft pencil and made it as dark as possible. I also set them in place in order, so the only time it'll be an issue is at hatch time. Set 32 eggs today, and my incubator only holds around 40, and I have 12+ BLRW coming next week, I'm assuming I'll have some quitters/bloodrings/clears at that point that I can toss to make room for the new eggs since some of the ones of mine that I set are pullet eggs. I'm not *hoping* I have duds, but I'm pretty sure I will.

I would NOT use paint pens. I would think those would be more TOXIC. The sharpie dries really quickly too. Hope you have a good hatch!

Help, fourth hatch in lockdown and none hatched 6 were moving and looking great going into lockdown 2 "ifs" Check because it was day 22 and no movement nothing. What did I do wrong/

yes, vent holes have been opened. The hatcher is a LG still air, temp 100-101 humidity at 60-65%. The eggs are swedish flowers I have hatched in the LG three other times with shipped eggs and they've hatched but these quit it seems.

Sometimes shipped eggs just quit unfortunately. It happens... What was your humidity during incubation?

Btw, are you sure they are dead? Have you candled them? If your temp was 101 at the top of the eggs, it's possible that the egg itself was lower than 99.5 which means they might just be a few days late...

Incubators anonymous! lol

I've put my incubator away. My incubator has been running non stop since December! I just got a broody hen, so I put some eggs under her. That way my husband will not see that I am hatching more eggs...

I have no idea where those chicks came from...

The broody did it, not my fault!!! LOL.

I just shut off two of mine, and I feel really proud!
