Lockdown yesterday went smoothly and the humidity holding at 68%. Now comes the waiting game.I check every 10 minutes for pips none yet. Girls are picking up the pace on laying, I'll be sneaking some into the bator later this coming week. Gonna go check eggs again. Ain't it exciting!

2 more days to lockdown for me. 8) put water in the hatcher today, it jumped from about 25% to almost 80% in a matter of an hour. wow... think i need to take some water out now LOL

i'm going to aim for 65-70%... had dry incubation and so far so good. 9 EE, 8 dorking, 8 bantam mutts to go in lockdown

and 9 eggs go in lockdown next week... tho i'm contemplating giving them to Owl to hatch out, see how that works. she started incubating around the 6th or so i think... put them in the 'bator around the 10th. glad i saved them now.

Candled my eggs last night. 30-31 eggs weren't good.

Most of them were Coro/Light Sussex. Still have some eggs in the 'bator due Thursday, so I'm hoping for the best!!

Sorry about those splits, shipping does a number on them sometimes. I am putting more hens in there soon, so I can send you some bonus eggs next time I ship.;-)

I think shipping was our main problemo. Since they took an extra 1-2 days to get to me...

I should never have started reading this thread, much less this subforum. Our effort at a homemade incubator is in temperature-testing phase now.
