Incubators Anonymous

So I'm trying out my 2nd hatch, first time I had only 2 go in lock down, and neither didn't pip. So here I am at day 17 with 17 eggs that are good to go. The last 2 rotations, they had moved and are touching, and now this last one, when I placed them down, they are wiggling, some enough to full roll over. The ones that are moving like crazy are Silkie Eggs, I have 9 Silkies in there and a few NN Barnyard Mixes, and then a few EEs. Someone was saying that those Silkie eggs might hatch early, so that I might want to do lock down either today or tomorrow at day 18, not wait till 19 with the Silkies.

Any thoughts? Thanks

day 18 is the "standard" lockdown day... I probably wouldn't go early but that's me. if anything I tend to wait till day 19 but again that's how my incubators tend to go.

So I should be okay locking them down tomorrow at 18 days, I'm just nervous because it the last 2 eggs where fine at lock down, and then they never pipped. Not sure what I did wrong.

Thanks!

my last batch I was hatching in the purple box- I never had a problem with the blue, the purple kept coming up colder, but it was my hanging basket was higher than my blue one so they didn't get as warm. the blue one is tried and true. I just hatched one chick out of the purple but lowered the basket to the same as the blue box. now I should get better results.

I am impressed.

Thank You, that means a lot. I have finished my project. I am testing now, as far as controlling the humidity. the STC-1000 PID controller is working great holding temp, I added a water fill line, so I do not have to open the top to add water, the fan and the turner are installed and working great. I may have to add a few more holes to drop humidity, it has been running for 3 hours only, and is at 60%. morning will give me a better idea (8:00pm here) If it stabilizes, I will set eggs on Saturday......did I mention I am a incubating-o-holic?
