If I don't get some birds sold I am going to be OVER RUN with CHICKS! I set another 180 eggs and could have set another 180! I didn't want to set that many but I couldn't let all those SLEE set there since I can send the roos off quick. I also couldn't let those Cuckoo Marans go unhatched so between the 2 that was 60 more eggs

I also had some shipped eggs too so it just had to be a BIG hatch.

Humidity is much higher in the hatcher so I am happy to find a fix. All the water was gone from the pan but I can fix it so that it is feed with a 5 gallon bucket. This is not like most hatcher/incubators. When I open the bottom the temp does not drop and neither does the humidity.... it all rises. Hold heat really well too.

it's funny, everyone worried about humidity... I had 15 sfh eggs that I wrote down set on a wed, due for lockdown yesterday... of course, k.i.forgot strikes again, and I went to move them over tonight...

nope not gonna happen. they all HATCHED at 10% humidity thru incubation, lockdown, etc. all were 100% hatched, fluffed and one managed to get stuck under the turning rails! (which were still turning!) so dry is IT! LOL

I have 4 mille fleur bantam cochin eggs that have pipped and were talking to me loudly as I moved them to the hatcher, but none have hatched yet...

and I think I botched when I actually set them... since I did set a couple batches on a Monday also. LOL

it's funny, everyone worried about humidity... I had 15 sfh eggs that I wrote down set on a wed, due for lockdown yesterday... of course, k.i.forgot strikes again, and I went to move them over tonight...

nope not gonna happen. they all HATCHED at 10% humidity thru incubation, lockdown, etc. all were 100% hatched, fluffed and one managed to get stuck under the turning rails! (which were still turning!) so dry is IT! LOL

I have 4 mille fleur bantam cochin eggs that have pipped and were talking to me loudly as I moved them to the hatcher, but none have hatched yet...

and I think I botched when I actually set them... since I did set a couple batches on a Monday also. LOL

It is funny how it goes. My first hatch in the new hatcher had low humidity and had a good hatch. The second one had more stuck chicks. This one has had higher humidity and still a few, 3-4 out of 100+, got stuck.

Hubby wants me to STOP hatching so we can go out of town for a long weekend ..... this going to be a nail biter for me.....

but in the scheme of things it would be a nice break. I have chicks running out my ears anyway.

Palm Springs would be nice.... He just wants to visit his Aunt in the boonies in KY. Nothing fun really......

That is unbelievable!

I have had terrible luck with up to 200 BCM eggs until the last 2 hatches - getting better each time. Humidity too high, all these fully formed chicks dead in shell

- now it's dry hatching, so much better; and I have another 42 in lockdown as of today with 87% humidity if I believe the little hygrometer (not really but there is fog on the window so maybe it's right

.That picture in my head of one poor little guy stuck in the turning rail -ouch! Great they all turned out.

Off topic, but just spent 3 hours finding my blind turkey hen who has decided to nest God knows where, and brought her back - what a fun way to spend an evening when I could just waste it instead doing my taxes .... visions of racoon bait in my head... Turkey incubation now THAT'S another story...

My Sizzle chicks have officially outgrown their brooder! Which is crazy cause they r so small! They are 5 weeks old and 7 of 10 are fully feathered. But those 3!!! OMG! They barely have any!

So my question is, anyone plz give me opinions! Do I put those 7 outside into the non heated grow out pen and reintegrate the other 3 later? Do I put all 10 out and hope they help keep these warm at night? OR Do I let em all deal with a too small brooder for awhile longer?? Decisions decisions!!!!

Thanks ki4got. I've taken out a sponge and taken a little fella out who popped out last night-18 1/2 days hatching. Going to be lonely for 3 days!
