Incubators Anonymous

I understand you people. I don't even have my chickens or Guineas yet and I want a incubator. What do you do with all the chicks and Guineas and ducks and turkeys after they hatch? Do you have them everywhere? Share with others?
"I'm a chicken (and Guinea) hoarder and I don't care, I have chickens (and Guineas) running everywhere"........lol
I sell a good amount of what I hatch. I keep some to grow out and replace my breeders.

A PIP!!

Ok, things will be slow for a while, then all of a sudden they're popping like popcorn!

Day 3, hatch 2!

8 out of 8 eggs with embryos! I need to turn down the humidity, I can't really see air cells, weird?

Didn't check the goose eggs... But that is for tonight!

And then, while we were out cleaning the yard, we found a clutch of about 30 eggs, and brought one in, candled it, looked dead,so we eggtopsied it... And inside was a beautiful, growing embryo. :( I think we killed it. The thing is, I haven't seen a broody hen, in fact, I didn't even know the nest existed... And now, Big Red Hen, our Rhode Island Red, is brooding.

Tears of joy! But, what am I going to do with 30 baby chicks in an open range flock?

I doubt a broody will cover that many eggs. You may want to cull a few.

The mama will normally integrate them better than you will.

For the life of me, I have never seen so many eggs... I have found so many in the coop, that I didn't believe they could be laying anywhere else.

I only have 11 hens. I have no idea how the heck I ended up with such a large clutch. I honestly stopped counting after the first two dozen eggs, and my husband tossed a few, because we didn't think a hen was even sitting.

U could probably fit around 15 and thats at a push, that's with a large hen and small eggs, good luck let me know how it goes

I have my heart set on black and blue copper marans! I've been watching and drooling over chocolate eggs! :drool   Hope I can find some hatching eggs somewhere in Washington state so they won't have to come so far.
I am hatching some copper marans for a gal in Selah, WA . This is the second batch I'm doing.
