Incubators Anonymous

i can say i am a addict but i am shore close. i have a GQF 1270 and i am going to buy another cabinet soon. i also started my own flock of booted beaded belgain D'Uccle, i have self blue, mille fleur, and porcelains and i would love to have blue mf and golden necks. i also incubate emu eggs, guinea eggs, goose eggs, peafowl eggs, and duck eggs as well. i love hatching eggs it is a passion of mine. i only have been doing it for 3 years, and i wish i started a long time ago. it is so amazing how hatching works. they are truely gifts from God. if i had the money and time i would buy some big petersime incubators and start a hatchery. but i have a full time job and a lot of other farm animals. incubators are awesome

Funny thing is that I received the "Incubators Anonymous" e-mail right after a reply from someone selling hatching eggs on Craigslist... LoL
I'm super to new to it, but I caught the chick fever and can't stop hatching them.

Question to hatch addicts with more experience than I. I started dry hatching (relativly dry @ 30%) after I got a lot of DIS full term chicks. I now hatch in my smaller incubator so I don't have to adjust the humidity on my cabinet bator. My hatch rate at lockdown is now 100% I can only hatch 12 at a time (comfortably) and I've been eying a hatchet that's on eBay with different drawers for breeds. Do y'all have seperator hatchets? If so, what is a good one? Enable me!

With my USA I will use a seperate hatcher going forward. I have been using my hovabator 1588. I havent done staggered hatches up until now so I have just used small plastic baskets - 4 fit in the HB to separate breeds. My hatcher is the "bordeaux bator" I made last weekend that is linked in my signature.

My "display case" bator we built over Easter in the Philippines is big enough to put small shopping baskets into so I can separate the breeds and control the chaos.

I do have duck eggs in there so I will pull them out on day 19 - after the cotournix hatch in my styrobator and hatch the pekins in there.

i love this thread, nice home made incubator by the way. I AM an addict. I raise Gamefowls, heritage breed and rare breed chickens. I have hatched over 200 already this year and i keep telling myself enough is enough, but there are a FEW more batches I want to hatch before I call it quits for the season, IF I ever do.....

The Genesis is a great option also, nice big window which is a benefit over the 1588.

My name is Emma and I am a incubator-holic, I have been for around 3 years now, I have no intention of stopping, all the self help forums will not stop me, nuff said!!! :p
Much love to my micro bantam chicks and fingers crossed to my goose egg who is currently in the incubator.

My name is Sally and I am an incubator addict too. I don't even need cable tv anymore... because I spend more time watching incubator windows than I ever spent watching HBO or Showtime! I thought I had control over my problem... until I learned to build my first incubator. I've got about 8 or 9 now and currently four are running and FULL! Yes, I know I have a problem but I can't help myself! I'll hatch ANYTHING I can get my hands on! Most of my eggs are from my own flock, but occasionally I'll get eggs from someone else-I call that "Getting some strange."
