. the Breeds that i have are

Isa Browns, Americana's, Brahmas, Silkies, bantam Cochins, some barnyard mix chickens, Rhode Island reds, Black /rocks, Barred rocks, a Columbian Rock rooster, a pair of cuckoo marans, a black copper Maran rooster, and some bantams of mixed breeding, and just got last night 4 Black Minorcas 1 rooster and 3 hens. for turkeys I have Wild Eastern pair, 2 blue slate hens, and 1 Broad Breasted Bronze hen, for ducks I just have Muscovys. so I would say I am a Chicken-holic.

I hope you are quarantining everything you bring in...many poultry diseases are impossible to get rid of and will require that you cull your entire flock if they get infected...

X2. I would rather hatch my own when possible, I have two or three nice friends that raise chickens that I get pullets from, but I know they are careful so I dare do it.

I hatch all of mine upright in egg cartons. I cut down the sides so they don't impede the chicks when they emerge. When I put the eggs in the hatcher, I candle to see where the low side of the air cell is, and I turn them all in the same direction that way they will all pip on the side facing me :D

So smart!!

Hi, my name is Joanne and I am an Incubating Addict...I just graduated from a Lyons Clearvue Hatcher/Brooder & got a new to me Sportsman 1500 Pair...Incubator holds 3 trays of 96 (so a total of 288) & the Hatcher Holds 300. It will take me a while to get up to full capacity.... but I am trying my best! I have only one more Hatch to go for customers & one for me... THIS season!

Hey, thinking while we have so many experienced hatchers, and some newbie addicts.....

We could always use some help on the diary incubation thread its not just about shipped eggs anymore, it's where the Hatching 101 ~ Guide to ASSISTED Hatching articles stem from, and so many come for help and sometimes it gets overwhelming and we do need our beauty sleep sometimes! Some great people on the thread, and a lot of them are on here too!

Happy birthday Mrs. Oz!
Wow that is really cool! Good luck with the hatches!

I dont need an award, I need to be locked up in a mental institution

Add all your chickens minus roosters minus non laying pullets minus chicks minus any grow outs minus 10% loss due to future predators or illness minus any you have for sale minus those you are thinking about selling minus any selected for freezer camp minus project pens and then calculate how many you have left. Calculate the average number of eggs those chickens give you, reduce the subtotal by the fraction. Thats REALLY how many chickens you have!! You can further reduce by 40-60% if you have bantams. Furthermore there are three chickens to every human so you must have at least 3 final counted chickens per household member because you could never be below average.
