Have you seen Silkie eggs? Precious!!! And BEI eggs? OMG! After swearing off incubating eggs EVER again after last years insanity, I have 80+ on my battors now, and 8 more boxes arrived today!!!

Oh Gosh! lol What breeds are you hatching?! I imagine you have a ton of room for your chickens or do you sell the chicks?

When I got my first bantam eggs I couldn't bear to break them. I blew them all out and decorated them.. they were just too cute to break apart to eat. I made an Easter Tree out of them for my mother.





Since they were mutts and my incubator didn't work in my house I didn't hatch them.. but now I have a NEW incubator... and its up and running...

well, an update on my hatch. 8)

i haven't done a head count of what colors/breeds yet, but they'll be easy to sort (by breed anyways) this time around... so far 9/10 dorkings out, 1/6 SFH, 3 more pipped, the rest are cochins... i've got 35 chicks total hatched so far, with at least another 3-4 cochins pipped too. i miscounted... i thought i put 53 in the hatcher, it was 51.

the only local eggs in the bunch were my own dorkings and mille fleur cochins. the rest were shipped (bantam cochins from luckypickens) and SFH from Bulldogma (travelled by car, about 3 hours all told, counting the detour i had to do that day...)

for the remaining eggs to magically turn into peeping chicks.

welcome to the world little sh... uh. chits. no... CHICKS! uh, yeah! that's it.

eta: the bantam cochins are primarily silver and gold laced, and reds. might be a couple partridge or buff columbians, i know there was a lemon blue egg, and a couple others i don't remember. i'll take inventory once the hatch is done. (counting popped egg tops and their lables).

oh, and i picked up some more eggs at the PO today too. 8)
