So my eggs that pipped at the wrong end, again, hatched. At least 4 if them did. Another one looks like it may not make it. Plus I have 2 new baby silkies from my broody hens. Still haven't figured out why my last 4 batches have failed. I've done nothing different then I did last year.

Here's the newest additions.

Usually when your chicks hatch at the wrong end, it is how you are storing them until you put them in the incubator. They need to be gathered and put pointy side down in an egg carton. Store them in a cool spot and turn them at least twice a day. Or put a book under one end of the carton and then move the book to the other end. My friend was saving me some eggs and when I went to pick them up, she had them in a big bucket laying all which way. Many of them were born at the wrong end. Last time I found she put the eggs in the carton, a few she had upside down. I wouldn't put them in the bator until they sat for a few days turned the right way. they all hatched right...every one.

the eggs are due to hatch in 2 days but 2 of them are moving vigorously! and i heard a pip but i have a problem it a hovabator 1602 humidity at 75 and temp at 99 to 100 perfect. So the egg turner i left in because i mistimed the chicken egg hatching day and added duck eggs wich are due to hatch 2 weeks later. now i couldnt leave the duck eggs without turning while the chickens lied flat and i count lay the chickens flat while the duck eggs turned. So the rods that carry the eggs are able to be taken off and i took off 3 rows but under them was a plastic lining so i didnt know what to do i put the eggs in between these plastic lines and it seems movement for them would be hawhat should i do take out the egg turner their on their second day of lockdown i will lose valubale humidity and temp but how will the move to get to their air sacs what will i do i need an answer by today please!

you see if i take out the turner racks the plastic lining under the eggs are between those will this affect anything!

So to make sure i understand the problem, you need to go into lock down but the duck eggs still need the turner?

Okay so i don't know a whole lot about incubators with automatic turners but I can say what I would do. So I would think that the eggs would have a really hard time hatching with out being able to roll around, do you have any kind of material that you could put on top on just the chickens side? Something that wouldn't stop the it from turning but would hold them up? I'm sorry i'm trying to be as helpful as possible but i have always hand turned.

If I understand correctly you have chicken bantam eggs hatching today and duck eggs not due for 2 weeks. You could use the turner for the duck eggs and then just have the chicken eggs off to the side but I would put some kind of a divider up so the chickens can't get to the area where the turner is active. I would worry they would get their legs stuck in the turner. Losing a little humidity wouldn't be a problem because 75 is a little high for hatching. Usually for chicken eggs you run about 60 to 65. Even if you lay the eggs down they will still move into their air sacs but I definitely wouldn't wait any longer. You could also take out the tray altogether and just manually turn the duck eggs while the others are hatching as well. Just make sure that whatever you do is quick and that you don't leave the lid off too long so your temp drops.
