West Coast was probably lower because of heat wave. So far socal local makes a little difference but that trip accross the pacific is a good equalizer.

If I knew I could offload the chicks, I would ship 100 and set 100 in Anaheim of all three groups and have my roommate turn on the incubator here at the same time. I just cant cull up to 300 chicks for an experiment.

If the non candled eggs have similar fertility, I should end up with a few chicks, In saying that, I have lost up to 50% of veining eggs between day 10 and hatch day, A week from now we should have coturnix zipping like a levis factory but they all could be duds like the turkey.


My next hatch will be thanksgiving, I am limiting it to 12 foam inserts - just under 300 eggs.

Hi.... my name is Caitlin..... and I'm a hatch-aholic.

Fortunately looking at some of your other lists of hatches makes me not feel so bad because apparently others have it worse!
On another thread someone was talking about having EIS (empty incubator syndrome) and I realized this is what I suffer from. I don't do large hatches, but as soon as it's empty I have the overwhelming urge to refill it haha.
Which we live in the city so no roosters which means some pretty expensive ebay eggs.
Waiting on some Blue Isbars from the greenfire farms line to arrive tomorrow so I can load it back up!

Oooo blue isbars! I suffer from EIS too. Our local poultry auction is in 2 days time! Let's see what random bargains I can get this month!

Just stopping n to say we still have not shut down our incubator(sportsman 1502) for now a year, we did shut down the hatcher for cleaning. It will be off for a whole week.

I have tried 3 batches of eggs and have had no luck. I have little giant still air with a fan installed to move the air. Hydrometer it at 100 with humidity at 35%. I see air cell develope but nothing else. What am I doing wrong I need more fuzzy butts my brooder is empty and it is heart breaking

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but my humidity is always at like 50% until lockdown where I bump it up.

I only have a basic farm innovations still air incubator and I average an 80% hatch rate on all mail order ebay eggs

Also, what are you keeping your temp at?
