The quails would practically be laying by the time that suckered hatched.

My CCL pullets lay big eggs. One girl lays jumbos and has from the start. They lay better and bigger than Ameraucanas for sure! EE might be a little different. They lay better than Ams and bigger than ams.... I dont think they lay bigger than my CCLs.

you have just made me feel better about my CCL project, i was getting so frustrated due to lack of clarity on breed standard and having a crap hatch with weird chicks popping out etc: but now they have a redeeming feature ... my second attempt at pullets is now 12 weeks old so still a ways to go, but i ended up with two boys who are 6 months and the squabble all the time and try to attack me.. i wear gloves when i go in their pen to pick them up.

unless they're ready to hatch, I'd suggest dropping your humidity... otherwise you may end up with waterlogged chicks that may not be able to hatch normally.

ok thanks what do u suggest I have been trying to keep it about 50 but just keeps creeping up maybe another air hole

Well I wouldn't let just 2 cockerels define the whole breed. Ask at the Cream Legbar thread to get a more rounded view over all.

Love the homemade incubator!

Speaking of CCL's did ya'll see My Pet Chicken had added them as day old chicks for 2014? As far as I know that's the first/only mainstream hatchery selling them. They are almost sold out for the year and they are $47 per straight run chick plus a $40 shipping charge for the order!!!???!!!???!!!

I've never had one they're pretty birds. I attempted Isbars twice (wanted them for awhile) but all the chicks were eaten by a predator (think it was a possum) and then the rest of the eggs were lost with my daughter shutting off the incubator last month.

In good news.... I have chicks

2 Olive Eggers hatched this afternoon. I have a dark brahma/ Blue Copper Marans mix that has pipped too. And 3 more olive eggers and 3 black copper marans in there.
