Hi everyone! My name is Amber and I have recently discovered that I am a hatching addict. I was already addicted to having chickens but now I'm loving hatching. Hoping my husband will get me a cabinet bator for my birthday.

I know that feeling. If I want it done I have to do it myself too! Well done making that incubator, has it had a test run yet?

about 9 runs- you can put 10 eggs in it the best number is 6 so it is for small hatches. I hatched out 45 chicks last year.

Well I took a look at the eggs I set Saturday.... I was surprised at how easy it was to candle them all ready. The White Leghorns are FERTILE YEAH..... I have not hatched any WL in a long time. The Silkies were fertile too and so were the MFL and what every mutts I am going to get from the Choc Wyandottes and Choc Orps all running together.

My Exchequer Roo is NOT doing his job. He will be replaced in a few days with a younger one and he is BLUE too. My Black Rock is not giving me fertile eggs either so I think I will just replace him too. I have another one with some silver leaking but I can deal with that. My Orpington roo is not doing his job either.... I have a younger Choc Roo I might toss him in to see if he can do the job. He is doing his job in my Choc pen LOL.

Good news is my BLRW's are laying about 2 eggs a day and they are Fertile

I have a Crele Wyandotte Cockerel coming soon and he is going to be the start of my Wybar project..... SHHHHH don't tell my hubby, I have not informed him yet.... I am still working out who is going so I can make room for him. The good news is the SLW in pen 3 is NOT giving me fertile eggs so the new guy might have to take over for a while anyway LOL.
