DM Rippy what type of thermostat do you have? It looks like a digital water heater thermostat? I haven't seen one like that.
I set weekly if I can, but CAN set up to 5 days apart or so, if needed. I like to have an extra day for 'just in case'... 3 days for lockdown, 1 extra, and 1 to clean and dry the hatcher.I collect eggs for a week and set eggs on Saturdays and lock down on wednesday or thursday EVERY WEEK.... keep it easy that way.

top quality nutrition will be the best determinateI think I belong in this thread...ever since the NYE hatch-a-long which was my first hatch I have wanted to set more eggs and knew there was no way to make it until the Easter hatch LOL. Our neighbors behind us are finishing up their coop, so I JUMPED on this perfect opportunity! I have the bator purring away again almost ready for some eggs tomorrow! What a lovely sound it is.![]()
There was only a 50% hatch rate with my barnyard mixes, so I am hoping for higher this time. I have a feeling it is because my layers that I acquired with this house are older...3 to 7 years old. So not much I can do about that, but will put 24 in the Brinsea. I learned with my last hatch NOT to tetris stack, because there were 5 still stacked at lockdown and though it went OK...was very anxiety provoking.
Anything I can do to increase the hatch rate of older layers? Fertility is not an issue...we are 95% bullseyes!
