Incubators Anonymous

Thanks DM Trippy. I had the same problem with mine. Would run perfect for two weeks then crap out on me. I bought an incubator but have to set up a hatcher.

I'm thinking off hatching my own eggs as a newbie, I've raised chicks but that's it, so, first question, what incubator as a table kind, does everything,? Lol, I've looked up a few, is a fan necessary? I would be only hatching 6-12 at a time. Im wanting to get good stock faverolles, Ameracaunas, or gold laced wyandottes, to add to my current flock

if you were to open this thread just about anywhere, you will see people imploring others to get a fan for their bator.

its not necessary but it removes a lot of doubt - especially self doubt.

6-12 eggs at a time - I would invest in something that is larger, you dont know what you are getting into. you may regret not outlaying a few more bucks.

depending on your finances

OK has any of you out there ever turned a dishwasher into an incubator? I just took out my old broke one and suddenly I am seeing an incubator.

How much wattage is needed for a cabinet incubator? 100 or 225? Using a wafer thermostat and heating element wire.

You may not be asking this question.....

I use a 75 watt bulb in the winter and 7 ft of flexwatt and a dehumidifier. In the summer I don't need the dehumidifier to keep the heat up. Might can even lower the wattage on the light bulb.

If that is not what you are asking for maybe you need to give us more info. I have had to adjust what I use in each incubator or hatcher. I have a very big incubator hold 540 eggs. My hatcher is smaller but about the size of a reg cabinet incubator. I think I use a 40 watt bulb and the flexwatt. I had another incubator that had 2 75 watt lights. I have had to adjust based on what my incubator needed to heat it.
