[gimmie birdies]

I am on pins and needles I have 8 eggs I am waiting on and it is day 19- they all have the veins, and the swoop I like to see
and now one is going in to that air space.

Yeah depending on how my next hatch goes I'll buy a big bag... But I didn't want to get a ton and not have any babies to eat it. Still need to get a feeder and waterer for my brooder. I'm going to get it all put together tonight and decide whether to hook it up in the shed or in my room. I really can't sleep with any lights in the room though.... I've had my incubator set up in my closet and it's worked well since it's pretty insulated from temp swings. But I feel like having a heat lamp set up in my closet would be kinda dangerous...

Not to mention NOISY! Peep Peep Peep!!!

Yes, for sure the cold kills eggs, but I've never set anything that froze or was almost frozen. I have hatched eggs from the fridge though. Have a Golden cuckoo Marans chick right now that was in the fridge a couple days.

this hen was a fridge chick too- I had lost the dad to this hen and was sad- so I popped the egg under a hen and got Baby Gaga. but that is a cute baby.

LOL my chickens also eat chicken... I use whatever meats I can get on sale, grind it all together (chicken bone as well) and freeze it in 1/2 pound meatballs for the dog's consumption primarily, but the chickens also get it now and then. the primary meat in these is venison, with some pork, beef, always some organ meats and then probably 1/4 bone-in raw chicken... they love it. I summer I can hang a meatball in a pen and they go to town tearing it apart.
