LOL my chickens also eat chicken... I use whatever meats I can get on sale, grind it all together (chicken bone as well) and freeze it in 1/2 pound meatballs for the dog's consumption primarily, but the chickens also get it now and then. the primary meat in these is venison, with some pork, beef, always some organ meats and then probably 1/4 bone-in raw chicken... they love it. I summer I can hang a meatball in a pen and they go to town tearing it apart.
my point was not clear but comparable.

The pork you are getting is probably the slaughter house stuff that we humans dont consume a proportional share of - liver, kidneys, intestines, brains and such, with a bit of meat. Its all boiled and then dried - much the same as fish meal.

I like my birds getting some non-vegetarian protein to ensure they get the amino acids they need - but I am not fussed what animal it comes from. I use fish meal the feeds I make. If chicken meal was cheaper, I would pick it without guilt.

I eat a food called Scrapple. It is often made from the "leftover" parts. Liver, Kidneys, intestines. It is grey in color and a bit nasty if you know what all is in it. Having been raised with it, I have never been bothered by the contents. It is made by boiling and seasoning and dried. Much as you described above.

in the Philippines, the only part of the pig they dont eat is the sqeal.

What part is the "sqeal"? Just wondering. Not sure if the Amish that make my Scrapple use that or not.... Amish rarely waste a bit of an animal.

Haha.. i tried scrapple one time on a trip up north, i liked it. It can't be any worse than what's in a good old haggis.. :)

I used to be married to a guy from Argentina, believe me in that country there is NO part of the cow that gets missed either
but somehow they make it taste good on the bbq...

I would feed my chickens any protein EXCEPT CHICKEN.... just me but there is something not right about making them cannibals intentionally. Fish, beef, pork..... I don't care.... I care if it could be CHICKEN. I also think my chickens do better on the MEAT protein. I am sure that is not the TOTAL protein source but it is HIGH on the list.

I get people ask me all the time "those chicks are so big! What do you feed your birds????? " I think it is one reason people get good hatches from my shipped eggs too.

I don't ever want to see scrapple again.... yuck.....
