Incubators Anonymous

Hello, I'm Levi and I'm an incubating addict.

I recently had my first taste of hatching Swedish flower hens, partridge brahma, and wheaten americanas with my brinsea advance. I think my incubator had a days rest before I loaded it up with more wheaten Americana eggs and buff laced brahmas. I don't remember how many I put in there, its all fuzzy when I look back, but I'm sure it will be fine!

I also have a broody hen who I am collecting call duck eggs for, I like to consider her my wingman. She understands my addiction, I hope to get her to join soon too!

As soon as this batch is finished I may give the incubator a break, 48 hrs should do it, before I load it up with something else again.

Please help!

Quote: I tossed two that were definitely ( DH and I both agreed ) were clear. The others will wait until Friday, unless I smell anything off before then. Since DH said he was not sure on the other 6 and I really want to have turkeys this year we are going to wait on them.

Turkey eegs are as hard to candle as the green duck eggs.

Turkey eggs seem to take a little longer to show I would give them 10 to 14 days, I am incubating 4 going into lockdown today ..bought 16 USPS wrecked half of them but on the larger ones it took awhile to show what they were doing..I had 2 I swore were going to be clears and they are doing the best now, best moving poults in the eggs, I keep a maybe section in my bator so I don't have to recheck 50 eggs just those in the questionable section.

I have the 6 marked with an O on them so I know to do a hard recheck on those come Friday. The two I removed were absolutely clear.

I am about to jump on the bandwagon! My first hatch a few years ago was 100% successful with shipped eggs, with a Styrofoam incubator.
I am worried this time though. I am using an old plastic incubator, Turn-X. It came from the home of a heavy smoker. I've done my best to sanitize it. The dome is mostly clear now. I can't do anything about the motor compartment part though. I did order a new thermometer and humidity gauge..

.Also using shipped eggs again eggs arrived. Looking great!

I thought that when you were 'on the wagon' that meant you were quitting something and 'falling off the wagon' meant you started it back up again...

so I'd say you fell off the wagon LOL

that wagon can't make it up my driveway so I'm safe.

you probably won't get any advice on this thread about how to cure your addiction, we all seem to enjoy our "problem" and have no inclination to stop. Nearest I can figure I can keep 4300 chickens per acre before I need to build a second story to my coop. Anyone found a deal on buying incubators by the dozen?

I could write a book on how many problems I have If I could spell! So if you only have one problem! Good job! The chicken problem is at the top of my list though.

Hello my name is Steven me and my wife Tiffany do not have a problem. We took 176 chicks out of the Thatcher this morning but that's not abnormal right? Of course not. They were all cute so that makes it right.
So I repeat I do not have a problem.
