Incubators Anonymous

Long long day ahead for me again, I have one goose and two quail eggs pipped. The goose started last night so I expect it wont be much longer before she starts zipping, quail just pipped this morning so I will maybe get to see them this evening.

So I accidentally turned the bator off over night a week or so ago.... luckily I don't think it affected anything.  My hatch is going fine, they might be a little late but still a good hatch (due yesterday, but some hatched yesterday and are still hatching).

Lets see if I can keep the keets alive this time.... I lost my whole hatch a couple of weeks ago within a couple of days.  I tried a new waterer and I think that did them in.

I am so sorry to hear that. Consider any not hatching on a power failure and lets blame the electric company, ok? I know accidents happen wih the incubators and I hope yours all hatch.

I do one thing funny. I mark the breed on one side of the egg and the date they are due to hatch on the other. I set in Google calendar when I am not to touch the eggs and try to arrange them to be date side up. This way I have a better way to track. Normally I get a bunch of eggs in within a day or two so they can all set at one time. These all came in the course of a week. DH may got get me a bator to use for lockdown/hatching.

This is the baby that has what looks like its insides on the outside.

Still very much alive today, and I wasn't able to see much left out. I am hoping it is a sign that it is healing on its own.

Long day just became shorter, found out from my incubator sitter, that the humidity in my hatcher dropped down to 23%!!!!!!!!!111 Taking the afternoon off, this is more important anyway, right?

I'm halfway through day 19 with three little chickies out. My 9 year old daughter got to see the first one hatch at 5 am this morning so she decided she got to name it since she was the only who got up with me. I've got a lot of external pipping going on so hoping things continue to go well. 36 more to go!
