Yes, they're so cute! I would like to get some Coturnix quail sometimes. Everyone says they're so friendly, but of course to know for you one must first own some, yes?

What kind of temperment do yours have?

I got some Splash and Lavender Bantam Cochins in from Maryland last week. They're so stink'in cute!!

I have two Giant Cochin roosters. One is a Barred and the other is a Black Giant x Easter Egger. He looks like a Giant Black Cochin, with muffs. Super cute fellas!

yes, coturnix are so friendly, I have problems with them all running over when I open the door to feed or water. You have to be quick or they get out! My oldest ones are two weeks old, so they should start laying in a month or so. I have one white one, few gold ones, but mostly brown. Cute little buggers. I can ship you eggs when they start laying. I think I am going to sell most of the younger batch, just maybe keep the prettiest colors. I need to build breeder cages for them(here we go again). Good thing I like to build.

Most of my quail are brown, but I have one white and a couple of golden ones. I can send you pics of the birds I had but I am afraid to try and get pics of these guys right now, they all flock to the door when i open it and i am afraid they will get out . I am going to trim the feathers on one wing when i move them out of the brooder.

getting the bator fired up to put in some lavender and buff orpingtons. I was given my friends entire flock yesterday. She found out that she is allergic to thier dander. And these were some eggs left behind that I was not sure the hen would sit on sense she was moved to a new location.

I'm allergic to "chickens" according to the allergist! I keep up my meds to manage it. Today is itchy eye day. Loratadine is a sure fix for itchy eyes. Flonase for all days.

I shut off my incubator yesterday.

Looking forward to next spring.

I am allergic to chickens as well (although personally I think I am more allergic to the dust they roll in than the actual chickens.) I told my husband that he could consider me getting chickens to be my therapy for my allergies. I have an inhaler to take on the really bad days (like coop cleaning days) and I take a daily allergy pill all other days and yet I still have 37 chickens, a fully loaded incubator and 10 new chicks on their way (since I am having troubles making girls the old fashioned way. It's hard to be addicted to what you are allergic to.

I just set up my brooder in my living room of all places. It's too cold to have them outside (going to get down to 25 degrees tonight and tomorrow night) So they are going to have to sleep inside with us for a bit until it warms up a little then they can go outside to be with their big buddies. Usually my brooder is in the coop with the younger chickens. That way when they get old enough to be let out of the brooder the older chickens are already used to them and don't bother them. Right now there are 11 week olds and 7 week olds together in there and they are getting along famously. I think one of the 7 week delawares is actually ruling the roost believe it or not.

I am expecting chicks either tomorrow or Friday morning that I ordered 10 light Brahma girls plus packing peanuts I'm sure.

Once these guys are ready to be out in the bigger brooder in the coop the eggs in the incubator should be hatching so I will have more babies inside. My son is excited that they will be in the living room so he can watch them after school. He says it's better than TV lol. I have created another addict. Terrible

Can't build any more coops as fall has arrived and the rain is coming down. Soon the snow will be here too.
Already feeling withdrawl pains....
