I just found a neighbor with silver laced wynadottes ..... pretty birdies!! Might have to pay them a visit to get some eggies to hatch in the spring...... They will let a stranger in to talk chickens right????
I love my SLW, the babies are so cute and fluffy! Just moved 48 to the Hatcher and put 48 more in the Bator! Got some quail eggs in the mail and put them in there too. I really need a third cabinet Bator, I am planning to build one unless I find a used one cheap.

I've never had SLW babies before. I sold my 3 SLW hens and my GLW x BSL hen a few wks ago. The Wyandottes were noisy, and their eggs were long and skinny. I don't know. They just weren't for me.
Hey, maybe one.of you can help me! My thermometer broke!!!! And my eggs are all forming! What do I do?! Do I feel the eggs to see if they are to cold, or to warm?! ....... This totally sucks, and im crying

I would definitely not reach into feel the eggs leave it as it is and get another thermometer in the morning. Every time you open the bator you drop the temp lower.
not much happenned overnight, until about 3:30. then another bantam hatched. followed by an EE and another 2 bantams, all by 4:30.
i have 1 more EE pipped, a dorking pipped (YAY!) and 2 more bantams pipped. removed the broken shells and topped up the water and rearranged the eggs a bit, so the chickies had a clear spot to hang out. LOL (and so i could see the eggs better on the camera LOL) humidity went back up to 75-80% within minutes, so i'm not too worried about shrink wrapping... but still
cuz a couple of the eggs look like quitters when i candled quickly. too late to worry at this point tho.
gonna make a slideshow of the hatch sometime later today.
