Thank goodness you have more incubators!

Glad you are all settled into your new home! Hope you enjoy it! And your feathered friends too.

The only ones I am going to toss are the ones I thought were clear. I will leave the others in till next friday when round two goes in.....

the story to be continued.......

(I have pics, but I am just too pooped from putting up the tree all day and reg farm work too... sorry)

Woot! My babies, come see mama :-D oops, need to empty out a brooder or two. I was looking at some of the young ones in the brooder tonight, they are getting big enough to go in a pen somewhere with a lamp, but I don't think they need to be in a brooder any more. Some are pretty weird, like a butterscotch splash, I have no idea what those are or where they came from. Maybe I have a start on a unique breed. I will have to get pics . The tree is up but no decor yet, and presents need wrapping. Had to go ship eggs today, left late and need to go back to town tomorrow . More eggs to ship and shopping to do.

well, today is day 16 for the coturnix eggs... they've been in the hatcher since day 14.

i can't tell if anything's going on or not. they're all very darkly spotted, almost as dark as marans eggs.

we'll see if i have to clean out the fishtank sitting up on top of the cockatiel flight. LOL it's got 10 years worth of dust on it i'm sure.

I need to move mine into a bigger brooder, there are just too many they are making a terrible mess playing in the water. I swear, they think they are ducks! I have one of those little quail waterers so at least they can't drown. Good luck on your baby quail, Karen .

I set some eggs on the 11th! I'm really excited about the 8 Egyptian Fayoumi in there! Got a dozen Buff Orpington and some mystery eggs to boot! The only sad thing is my 3 mystery eggs from some very perfect OEGB all candled clear on day 5.

I was all ready to start showing chickens and winning prizes. Bummer.

WHAT is wrong with me??? I set 77 eggs late for the 3rd Annual NYD Hatch, after no incubating since the Easter Hatch. As soon as those three Octagon20 Advance EX units were humming along (wheezing occasionally with the humidity pump action) I found myself in the egg auctions again.

Won an auction for LF White Crested Black Polish.

And now I have bid on silkie eggs!

Obviously, this is like smoking or drinking- ya can't dabble in it without going back into full bore addiction again.

It's a sickness, I tell ya!

...I'm gonna have chicks again! MY chicks. Little fuzzy butt cheepy, peepy, dash around and fall asleep anywhere baby chickies!

well, my cochin chickies are going on a month now. i ended up with 4 silver laced, 3 black mottled (they were marked black/lavender) and 1 calico.
the calico is turning into the social butterfly. he sees me watching, he'll hop on the perch and give me 'the look' so i'll open the lid and he hops out to come say hi.

hubby commented yesterday 'you need some more like him' LOL I was planning on ordering some more eggs from that breeder, now I know i need to.

not too thrilled with the black mottleds, they're very little mottling except on their feet/legs and flight feathers. might sell the trio (i did get 1 roo/2 hens). got lucky with the laced too, 1 roo 3 hens. go figure. i've been SO lucky so far with genders.

16 Marans are out. Two pipped upside down
hit.gif
and that one died... didn't even get out of the shell...

2 are still in the hatcher and 4 eggs left with
fl.gif
but not holding my breath. Set 20+ more today some EE x Leghorns, 1 lonely Blue Rock and a few pullet eggs.

WE HAVE QUAIL! well, 1 so far anyways. LOL a few more pipped that I could see. guess it's time to clean out the fish tank and make a lid... after i catch a certain horse and beat her senseless.
lol.png
yeah right... but she DOES have to be caught and put back where she belongs... she's my 'problem child' and has been for the last 16+ years... but i digress.

pics later if i can get my camera to cooperate.

ETA: ok well, the brat is back in her pen, the fence patched AGAIN, for all the good that it'll do... we need new posts, THEN new wire... not more patches. (ok i'm done venting)

still only 1 quail baby.
