well on a good note, i may have lost my gold coturnix roo, but i've got 4 or 5 more in the 'bator that are growing (i think) and of the last 20 eggs set, 8 were fertile, hatched 7 gold and 1 brown. LOL so much for a 50/50 ratio. LOL lets just hope that they aren't all hens, or all roos. LOL golds i can deal with, i prefer that color in a roo. btw, if you didn't know, gold roo, brown hen = 50/50 gold and brown. or at least that's the probability LOL

Don't you love probabilites--they are only mathematical. THe real world numbers can be anything. Last fall I set a lot of shipped eggs, can't remember now, ,maybe 28 eggs. Only 5 hatched. All roosters.

And regarding Stanley.... the special needs chick- I think we're putting her back into the brooder with the "toddlers" all night tonight. Same age but totally different sizes. I think Stanley can hold her own at this point and since the meet and greet sessions have started the peeping has slowed way down. She still stands in the corner among the others while they sleep and rest..... but, it's better than screaming and being miserable.

It's all I can do... gotta hope for the best. Thanks for the advice everyone.

More pipped and more hatched but that is the HIGHLIGHTS

Tomorrow is hatch day and I have maybe 10-15 out already

I sold 8 roosters today !! I now feel like I have more room for chicks. THough I'm not sure how 70 chicks translates to 8 roosters!! But I do fee like I have lightened the load.

Time to clean out the LG and get ready for setting the turkeys!!

Awesome! Woooo Hooooo! Thinking I will take pictures of my little guys today to see if anyone has any guesses on sexing them. Ha! At one week? Who knows..... certainly not me.

I got my little eggs today from my 2 swaps with crazypetlady. Im very excited though my incubator is gonna explode soon . I wish that they would have processed my oreder for my new incubator quickly instead of waiting till the beginning of the following week

The side of the box was dented slightly but the damage was minimal and crazypetlady's packageing was sapurb.

IM gonna have to go see if I can find pictures of lobo and stanly and jake I have sevral eggs with there names on them . The eggs are so small and cute.

Those spotted quail eggs come out as soon as my new incubator gets here it says it holds 10 chicken eggs (mini eco) but they are so small I think they should all fit in there

And hopefully my chucker eggs in my other Little giant hatch sunday or early monday becuase I need to clean it out and put the Sweedish flower hen and cuckoo maran eggs that are still comeing in that one cuase I dont see them fitting in here even without the quail eggs.

UMMM, how do you turn those. I will be emulating you very soon. I have a new Hovabator coming and I will be sending the Sportsman back to my customer. I think it is a bad influence having it here. I think once I have replaced the BW/W Am and the guineas, I will be done for the season.
