well at the moment i'm down to mostly the babies. the pullets are all between 12 qand 16 weeks old so won't be laying immediately. i've got 6 sg girls left after the possum did it's damage (but we got it!) and 3 of them are broody now. and the other 3 are free ranging, but i don't think they like the roo. the broodies' eggs were fertile, these ones are iffy now. and i just sent out the last batch of eggs from the 'known' fertile girls. i'm working on building another couple pens to segregate my roos with the remaining girls, but it'll be a bit, as i can't seem to work as hard/long as i have in past months due to some physical issues going on.

i really need to thin the flock a bit. i had roughly 45 chicks hatched out within a 3-4 week period that are now eating me into the poorhouse. granted i sold or lost a few here and there, but i've still got 10 marked to go, and another dozen or better that will be sticking around a while more. of all of them, i've got 9 cockerels growing out. 2 red, 2 colored, 3 sg and 2 color crossed (red/sg). plus one mature red from craig russell, waiting on some chicks to grow faster.

BLEH my humidity plummited I dont know why last time I had checked it it was aobut 72 then I checked it awhile ago and it was 52 , there are two baby food jars full of water with sponges in them , there is a folded up hand towle thats wet how could it plummit 20 durning a hatching with everything in there. I have 9 babies out so I grabed them real quick and put them in the brooder when I added a couple folded dampend paper towles and a tampon . Hey Ill try anything. Is it to late for the rest of the eggs at least 5 or so others have pips and have sence last night ?

Yup, tampons, even napkins--they all work!!

So found a pullet in a snake this morning and now I get to hatch some more EE

1 = 18 eggs in the bator pretty good huh? I had someone order some NH and hubby said that was fine to toss some EE in to replace that pullet. I don't seem to have many EE for some reason. I know I had one batch that didn't hatch well. I just didn't set many I don't guess.

BTW I was willing to drive from FL to TN with a Blue Rock roo.....it fell though

I have a complainer . One little chick peeps and peeps and peeps and PEEPS AND PEEPS AND PEEPS. Everyone else is happy and warm and sleeping or looking around and he just follows them around and stands there and peeps. They have food they have water they have a teddy bear but he has only gone silent twice now when sleep overcame the peeping momentarly
