My boys informed of the hord of eggs in the horse trailer this morning. Not knowing the age, I pulled those eggs for scrambling as chicken treats. By dusk , the "nest" was full again! My best hatches come from the BCM BR and NH.... almost always 100%. Olive Eggers are tougher (I can't see in them AT ALL for some reason I can just tell it is dark) and the cuckoos are harder not sure why. Ameraucans are the HARDEST! I have rearranged pens and will be supplementing with Vitamins in the water and in about a month or so I will start hatching them again. MAYBE I will have some new layers tooI have several splits about to come of age and a couple of Lavenders too.![]()
nope. i tried incubating unknown eggs... got a nest full of stinkers under a broody.Im surprised you dont incubate them . not knowing age you coudnt eat them so you should see if babies can still be grown in them![]()

I didn't get a lot of blues either.... hum.... what happened to 50/50 and I have 5 blues WTH? I think I got 2 in one basket with 8 or 10 and I don't remember about the other basket. It had late hatchers in it. See.... that is why I need to get the reg BR hens OUT of that pen so it will up my blues.I think I might have a problem. I just put about (and I'm not counting in case DH asks) 120 or so guinea eggs in 2 hatchers. I candled them all. What happened to 50% for shipped eggs?
DMRippy, 14/16 in the brooder. 2 DIS. Most are black barred but it looks like there's at least 2 blue. yay me! I needed some more BR regardless of the color. My second batch from you should be getting close to hatching.
Thankfully I am selling some guineas tomorrow.
I am not going to order any more eggs for a while.![]()
